Job Overview

The Safety Coordinator plays a critical role within the Compliance and Safety team alongside the Operations Department. The primary responsibility of the Safety Coordinator is to facilitate safety-related activities such as training, drills, emergency response planning, and daily safety management.

  • Acting as a liaison between departments, the Safety Coordinator ensures that safety protocols, policies, and procedures are consistently followed across all project phases.
  • Reporting directly to the Safety Officer, the Safety Coordinator will monitor safety performance, address concerns, conduct audits, and track/resolve safety incidents through safety tickets.
  • This role involves ensuring the job sites and our workplace is safe for all employees, identifying safety hazards, and contributing to continuous safety improvement efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Program Support: Assist in the implementation and communication of corporate and client-specific safety programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA and industry best practices.
  • Training & Drills: Organize and conduct safety training sessions, drills, and emergency response planning to keep the team prepared for potential safety incidents.
  • Safety Audits & Monitoring: Conduct safety audits and inspections to assess compliance with safety policies and identify areas for improvement. Apply a 5x5 Risk Matrix approach to evaluate and prioritize risks based on likelihood and impact. Use audit data to assess potential hazards, identify areas for improvement, and drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on mitigating risks and enhancing overall workplace safety.
  • Safety Incident Reporting & Tracking: Track and document safety incidents and accidents using safety management software and safety tickets, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution. Maintain accurate safety records and incident logs.
  • Safety Tickets: Manage and track safety tickets for reported hazards, incidents, and corrective actions. Ensure timely resolution and follow-up to mitigate risks and improve safety performance.
  • Safety Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed safety records, including incident reports, safety training certifications, and compliance documentation. Provide regular reports to the Safety Officer on safety performance and incident trends.
  • Ongoing Safety Improvements: Assist in developing and refining safety policies, processes, and procedures to enhance safety culture and reduce workplace risks continuously.
  • On-Call Safety Support: Provide on-call support for safety-related emergencies, ensuring prompt action is taken to address hazards and maintain a safe work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Education: At a minimum, relevant safety certifications (e.g., OSHA certifications, First Aid/CPR, or similar) and a background in a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in a safety-related role, ideally as a Safety Coordinator or in a similar position within the construction or industrial sector.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong knowledge of safety standards, OSHA regulations, and best practices for maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey safety information clearly and collaborate effectively across teams and departments.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing safety hazards in the workplace.

Requirements:

  • Flexibility: Must be willing to work overtime as required by project schedules and deadlines.
  • Travel: Ability to travel up to 55%, including local travel within the Phoenix, AZ area (at least 30%) and occasional out-of-town travel (up to 25%).
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and have the ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods.
  • License: Must have a clean driving record and a valid U.S. driver’s license.

Compensation:

  • Pay Range: $24.00 to $29.00 an hour / Commensurate with Experience
