Seeking a dedicated and experienced Nurse Manager II to lead an Inpatient Medical-Surgical Oncology unit. This is a new, full-time, permanent, onsite position with direct reports, located in Hillsboro, OR. The role offers a competitive salary ranging from $175,000 to $200,000 per year , plus an annual incentive bonus. This is an exciting opportunity to provide exceptional leadership and patient care in a specialized oncology setting.
As a Nurse Manager II on the Inpatient M/S Oncology unit, you will be a pivotal leader, responsible for the daily operations and strategic direction of a 20-bed unit that administers chemotherapy. You will oversee approximately 50 direct reports and ensure the highest standards of patient care and operational efficiency within a 24/7 environment. Your role will involve implementing best practice models, optimizing patient care delivery, and fostering a collaborative and safe environment.
Key responsibilities include:
Strategic Leadership & People Development:
Create and advocate for developmental opportunities, building strong, cross-functional relationships.
Hire, train, and develop talent, setting performance expectations and planning for succession.
Foster open dialogue, engagement, and collaboration among team members to meet business objectives.
Delegate tasks and decisions appropriately, providing guidance and support to direct reports.
Operational & Administrative Management:
Translate business plans into tactical actions, overseeing work assignments, and identifying improvements.
Ensure adherence to policies and procedures, partnering with stakeholders to meet requirements and departmental strategies.
Manage hospital administrative functions, including budget development, payroll, and resource allocation.
Assume accountability for workplace safety, human resources (recruitment, performance management, labor relations), training, and quality/risk management.
Care Delivery Excellence:
Oversee highly complex work streams with significant program impact, developing strategic partnerships with physicians and service area leaders.
Lead multidisciplinary teams, holding them accountable for performance in alignment with cost, quality, and clinical standards.
Assist in designing and ensuring the readiness of emergency preparedness programs.
Align direct and indirect patient care management solutions across departments to ensure optimal and safe patient care.
Continuous Quality Improvement & Compliance:
Lead and implement long-term, cross-functional strategic projects aimed at improving quality, service, affordability, and operational efficiency.
Develop and manage a structured approach for identifying root causes and implementing solutions for operational system processes and safety issues.
Drive continuous improvement in clinical practices, services, and operations for patients and staff.
Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including the Nursing Practice Act, The Joint Commission (TJC), and other federal, state, and local mandates.
This is a senior-level role requiring a strong foundation in nursing leadership and operations, with a specific focus on oncology.
Non-Negotiable Requirements:
A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) .
Minimum five (5) years of experience in patient care delivery .
Minimum five (5) years of experience in business operations, clinical health care, or a directly related field .
Minimum four (4) years of experience in a leadership role (with or without direct reports).
Registered Nurse (RN) License (Oregon) required at hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required at hire.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
Strong background in Oncology , particularly with inpatient M/S Oncology unit experience where chemotherapy is administered.
Proven leadership experience with direct reports in an inpatient setting.
Experience with patient experience initiatives .
Strong union experience .
Leadership certifications are a significant plus.
