Rye Country Day School is seeking a full-time Library Assistant to begin in August 2025. This is a 10-month benefit eligible position. Rye Country Day School is a coeducational, Prek-12, college-preparatory school located in Westchester County, New York, dedicated to providing students with an excellent education using both traditional and innovative approaches. Specific responsibilities of the position include:
● Manage the circulation and shelving of all library materials including reshelving all books, processing, cataloging, shelving new materials, preparing and sending overdue notices, and keeping the online catalog current.
● Assisting with bulletin boards, displays, library programming, and other special projects, as needed
● Inventory and weed the collection as needed under the direction of the librarians
● Filing, photocopying and maintaining library’s professional and business materials
● Assist with library-related events (author visits, unboxing, and pop-ups)
Desired qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree is recommended; Library experience is a plus
● Familiarity with library systems and technology
● Strong interpersonal skills; a positive attitude, excellent oral, written, and organizational skills; and strong attention to detail a must
● Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
● A well-developed sensitivity, knowledge, and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community members; a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Physical requirements include theability to push and lift to 25lbs, and to be able to engage in frequent movements, such as standing, walking, crouching, twisting, and reaching
