REPORTS TO: Director of Human Resources and Diversity
WORK SCHEDULE: 24-hours per week. Weekday availability required. In-person work required.
CLASSIFICATION: Annual part-time, non-exempt
COMPENSATION: $25.00 - 26.50 per hour; DOE
Position Summary Berkeley Repertory Theatre (Berkeley Rep) has grown from a storefront stage to an international leader in innovative theatre. Known for its ambition, relevance, and excellence, as well as its adventurous audience, the nonprofit has provided a welcoming home for emerging and established artists since 1968. Over 6 million people have enjoyed more than 500 shows at Berkeley Rep, including 86 world premieres. Berkeley Rep shows have gone on to win 8 Tony Awards, 9 Obie Awards, 11 Drama Desk Awards, 1 Grammy Award, 1 Pulitzer Prize, and many other honors. In recognition of its place on the national stage, Berkeley Rep received the Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre in 1997. Through its annual seven-play season, together with up to four special event presentations, Berkeley Rep invites audiences to enjoy an eclectic range of theatrical experiences featuring diverse artistic voices, themes, and perspectives.
Berkeley Rep seeks an adaptable Human Resources and Diversity Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources and Diversity, the Human Resources and Diversity Coordinator works cross-functionally across Berkeley Rep to support human resources and diversity business functions, including, but not limited to, records management, data entry, events, systems, talent acquisition, employee engagement, development, and retention. The position processes sensitive information and collaborates with diverse teams, and requires confidentiality, discretion, and cultural competency. As the Human Resources and Diversity Coordinator, the employee must adhere to strict project deadlines and requests.
This position is an entry-level opportunity and requires in-person work at our campuses in Berkeley, California.
Human Resources Essential duties and responsibilities: - Launch and track Harassment Prevention and Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Trainings in Paylocity, ensuring employee training is current. Send employee reminders, as needed.
- Coordinate and facilitate Harassment Prevention trainings, including catch up sessions for visiting production companies and The Ground Floor.
- In coordination with the School of Theatre, track TB tests for Teachers and Teaching Artists.
- Complete data entry projects and surveys. Compile and create data reports, summaries, and infographics, as requested.
- Support the Director of Human Resources and Diversity in the creation and implementation of inclusive recruitment efforts. Post, update, and remove position announcements on external platforms. Ensure application materials are documented and stored appropriately in Paylocity and SharePoint.
- Facilitate and support interview preparation and debrief sessions, as requested.
- Support new employee onboarding, including the creation of new employee accounts in Berkeley Rep’s payroll and human capital management software, Paylocity.
- Participate in candidate screenings, interviews, and reference checks, as requested.
- Review job descriptions and partner with supervisors, managers, and directors to ensure job descriptions are updated annually.
- Support the Director of Human Resources and Diversity in the management of Paylocity modules, including but not limited to Performance, Recruiting, and Community. Assist with record maintenance.
- Reconcile the Human Resources and Diversity credit card with the Finance Department.
- Serve as a backup for payroll processing, as needed.
- Partner with the Director of Human Resources and Diversity to schedule and coordinate Company Meetings, trainings, and celebrations. Manage the coordination of food and drinks for Company Meetings, trainings, and celebrations.
- Serve on Berkeley Rep staff committees, as requested. Maintain committee notes, deliverables, and update meeting schedules, as requested by the Director of Human Resources and Diversity.
- Provide coordination support for the Managers Roundtable.
- Actively participate in all workshops and trainings.
Antiracism, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, And Access (AEDIA)- In coordination with the Director of Human Resources and Diversity, identify and create companywide AEDIA trainings, initiatives, and learnings. Research potential facilitators, coordinate payments and logistics, and schedule training sessions.
- Co-facilitate group learning and training sessions, as requested.
- Partner with the Director of Human Resources and Diversity to collect, analyze, and distribute AEDIA data, as requested.
- Contribute to a welcoming, inclusive, and rigorous work culture. Actively model Berkeley Rep values in the workplace and treat all Berkeley Rep constituents with respect.
- All other duties, as assigned.

- Appetite for immersion in all aspects and structures of a large-scale regional theater.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to learn new digital platforms quickly, experience with Paylocity, Outlook, and SharePoint is a plus.
