Behavior Intervention Specialist
Department: 601 - NPA
Location: LAUSD School Site
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Compensation: $ 22 - $27 per hour - DOE
Program Hours: Schedule hours vary but will take place during regular school hours, e.g. 8AM to 3PM
Position Summary
Work on a 1:1 basis during school hours with clients who have behavior challenges, social emotional issues and academic problems. Assist with their academic, behavioral and social-emotional interactions. Clients served may include those on the Pervasive Developmental Spectrum including Autistic Disorder; Sensory Integration Dysfunction, Expressive/Receptive Speech Disorders, social deficits, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, non-specific learning disorders and behavior problems. Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team collaborating with other professionals (e.g. speech pathologists, occupational therapists, psychologists, etc). Services are provided within local school districts across Los Angeles, West Los Angeles and San Fernando Valley.

Qualifications
Education/Licenses/Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in psychology/related field ( may substitute experience for a degree . See below). Obtain Child Abuse certification online within 30 days of employment and renew annually. Complete HR Insperity trainings on-line within the first month of employment.
Experience: With BA or BS, minimal six months working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
Without a BA or BS degree, minimally two years working with individuals with developmental disabilities

Work Environment
Work is conducted in the field (at local schools and/or client homes). Employee may encounter individuals who are emotional and students who are in crisis, exhibiting emotional/psychological distress or behaving in an aggressive manner. Employee will be exposed to frequent interruptions, loud noise, varying indoor and outdoor temperature, and drafts
